At North End Dental Care, we’ve seen the impact that missing teeth can have on our patients’ lives over the long term. It’s hard to enjoy a high quality of life when you can’t smile confidently, and even simple actions like chewing the foods you love hurts.

With all the tooth replacements available today, we know there’s no reason for patients to live this way. We offer options like dental implants at our Manchester, NH dental office so you can once again have a complete, healthy smile that looks great and functions comfortably.

Dr. Chris Moriarty provides state-of-the-art dentistry by staying current with recent advances. We are pleased to offer state-of-the-art dental implants—the only permanent tooth replacement solution available today!

What Are Dental Implants?

Unlike tooth replacements like dental bridges and dentures that sit on top of your gums, a dental implant replaces the entire structure of a tooth. From the titanium replacement root in your jaw to the beautiful porcelain dental crown that shows when you smile, dental implants are a complete solution to replace missing teeth.

What’s the Process for Getting a Dental Implant?

The first step is an evaluation with Dr. Moriarty, where he takes digital and panoramic x-rays to get a comprehensive view of your entire mouth. He can also see if the bone in your jaw is dense enough to support a dental implant.

If he finds you’re an appropriate candidate, he will refer you to a top oral surgeon in our area who will expertly place your implant into your jaw during an in-office procedure.

After the oral surgeon places your tooth implant, we must give it time to heal and integrate with the bone and tissue around it. Dental implant healing times are different for everyone, but the average is about four to six months.

When your implant heals and has fully integrated with the bone around it, it becomes part of your dental anatomy. Since it is rooted in the jawbone, your implant will provide stability for the restoration we add to it, which may be a dental crown, bridge, or full or partial denture.

Who’s a Good Candidate for a Dental Implant?

Generally speaking, you’re a candidate for a dental implant if you have missing teeth and are healthy enough for oral surgery. You must also have strong, dense bone into which the surgeon can place the dental implant.

If we find during our initial evaluation that the bone in your jaw isn’t strong enough to support a dental implant, all is not lost. With a procedure called bone grafting, you may be able to get a dental implant placed in the future.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Actions like biting and chewing stimulate the healthy regrowth of bone and tissue in your jaw, which keeps it strong and healthy. When the root is lost, this process stops, and once-healthy bone in the jaw starts to break down and gradually shrinks back (resorbs) into the body.

Over time, deterioration of the jawbone can lead to problems like loose teeth and misalignment problems, wrinkling around the mouth, and a sunken appearance of the face. The presence of the implant in your jaw takes up the job of stimulating healthy bone growth, eliminating these problems.
